The Keur Saloum hotel lives in close symbiosis with the village of Toubacouta and is one of its main sources of employment.
That's why we have set up structures and procedures to the local population. We're involved, either alone or with other partners, in various development projects, such as control over drinkable water, hygiene (private and general) and garbage control, When we purchased the hotel, we didn't hesitate to set up these structures, whether they are provisionally or permanent.
It is this way that the kitchen-garden of Keur Bou Naat came about. A little group of village women asked to help them to convert a piece of land (big 5.000 m2) into a vegetable garden, so that they could feed their families and sell the surplus at the market.
The well has been dug, the electric pump has been laid, the area has been fenced off and the first harvest already brought in.
Our support goes also to "Actions Toubacouta Sénégal", which is a Belgian humanitarian organization active on different levels, among other things garbage control, gifts of medical material, the European management of the local music- and dans group .
